ABSTRACT

The digital era of 4.0 has made many changes in people's lifestyles today. The rapid growth of internet use has an impact on all fields, one of which is the tourism industry, the Ministry of Tourism has established the concept of Go Digital or digital tourism as the top Ministry Program. This concept is one of the strategies to maintain the existence of the Sultan Syarif Kasim Museum, the problem found is the low interest and desire of the public to visit this heritage tourist destination directly. The purpose of this study is to analyze the virtual benefits of museums in meeting the needs of today's society. The research method used is basic research with descriptive qualitative processing techniques. Data collection was carried out by conducting direct observations, interviews with 10 respondents, and documentation of problems and field findings. The results of this study show that the use of virtual museums (VR) is an effective modern tourism innovation in an effort to maintain the existence of museums, and the results of the analysis show that virtual reality (VR) museums affect the visiting power of the Museum Sultan Syarif Kasim II Bengkalis.
