ABSTRACT
Geosynthetics are materials currently used in the railway's applications. The system developed with the Italian railways infrastructure manager, is using the geosynthetic as a base layer where to spray a pure polyurea membrane, a fast-curing waterproofing product used since decades all over the world to waterproof roofs, decks and hydraulic structures. The system is specifically designed to renovate the waterproofing performance of existent railways bridge decks. Purtop 1000, Mapei pure polyurea membrane, has been tested at a thickness lower than the one prescribed and it has passed all the required tests.
