ABSTRACT

The interface shear strength between geomembranes and other materials plays an important role in waste landfills and has been investigated over the years. Although prior investigations regarding different types of used materials, just a few publications were found concerning the geomembrane´s surface. This paper presents a study which shows several roughness parameters of one smooth and three textured geomembranes and tries to relate them to the interface shear strength. The results showed a great potential of these parameters to help understanding how the geomembrane surface contributes to the interface shear strength.
