ABSTRACT

Agriculture and food are very important, and there are several ways that agriculture and food affect sustainable energy pathways. The electrification of agriculture includes electric tractors, trucks, and cars, solar panels on buildings, transition to net zero buildings, and carbon sequestration in soil and shade trees. Soil quality makes use of soil amendments that incorporate organic carbon into soils. The ocean is considered in this chapter because of many biological processes that are important for carbon sequestration and carbon removal from the ocean. The concentration of carbon is much greater in the ocean compared to the air, and the removal and sequestration of carbon from the ocean may be one of the better ways to reduce the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
