ABSTRACT
The chapter takes an ethnographic view on autonomous shipping. It focuses on the multiple interpretations of the concept of autonomy and discusses trust and trustworthiness. It continues to unpack the problem of human replacement by technology and the responsibilities connected to this. The issues of deskilling and professionalism are examined.
