ABSTRACT

Construction workers are more exposed to burnout than in any other industry but female construction workers are more likely to experience mental health issues such as burnout than their male counterparts. This study aims to examine the factors causing burnout among female quantity surveyors in the construction industry. To achieve this aim, a cross-sectional survey was used alongside a well-structured questionnaire asking the FQS the causes of burnout at their place of work. 86 responses were collected and were analyzed using mean item score (MIS), standard deviation, and factor analysis. The findings showed that environment of work, social support and interaction contribute more to FQS job burnout. Therefore, construction organizations should make provision for social interaction among workers and a benchmark for measuring their performances. There is a need to find the important roles played between job burnout and job demands to support future research.
