ABSTRACT
The Swedish Transport Administration, Trafikverket, manages approximately 17,000 road bridges and 4,000 railway bridges. The Bridge and Tunnel Management System (BMS) provides support throughout the process from construction to assessment and prioritization of measures. The BMS is also used by a majority of Swedish municipalities. Beside the BMS there are guidelines that support the Bridge officers through the different stages such as inspection, planning, prioritization and finally performance of maintenance measures.
