ABSTRACT
Healthcare 5.0 is a new paradigm in the medical field, which is the result of the integration of IoT. This chapter describes how IoT has transformed the delivery of care through technologies such as telehealth, connected health devices, m-health, intelligent diagnostic devices, and big data technologies. These advancements allow for constant health monitoring, timely diagnosis, individualized treatment, and improved care for chronic illnesses.
Some of the shared data include data collected from smart devices such as wearables used in patient care and chronic illness management. Telemedicine facilitated by IoT has opened up a way for people in rural areas to seek medical advice online. Also, data analytics with the help of IoT makes it possible to introduce personal treatments and improve results of treatment and disease; simplifying the administrative tasks such as stock management and exclusion of mistakes.
However, there are problems such as data security, privacy issues, and of course, massive investment in infrastructure and training needed. Overall, IoT is a key component in the future of healthcare that is heading toward individually tailored, effective, and optimal care.
