ABSTRACT
The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies into precision agriculture has reformed crop management to achieve higher yields using minimal resources and negative impacts on the environment. This chapter gives an inclusive impression of the roles of smart IoT in precision agriculture and sustainable crop management. The chapter first introduces the concept of precision agriculture and also describes why it is significant in the sustainability of modern farming. Through case studies and real-world implementations, this chapter illustrates successful IoT projects in agriculture; maps the challenges; and indicates ways to overcome such hurdles to financial, legal, and technological impediments. It is also likely to look into new developments in sensor technology, integration of artificial intelligence, and the use of blockchain as probable movement and steps forward toward IoT-enabled agriculture for improved supply chain transparency. In this regard, this chapter will undertake an in-depth review to present scholars, professionals, and decision-makers with a deep insight into the revolutionary potential of smart IoT in enhancing sustainable crop management techniques and precision agriculture.
