ABSTRACT
This chapter encapsulates the culmination of a multidisciplinary research journey that integrates artificial intelligence (AI), clinical dermatology, and ethical governance. It summarizes the development and validation of the SegNet–Attention-Based Convolutional Neural Network (ABCNN), an explainable AI model for skin cancer detection that achieved 98.9% accuracy, 99.1% recall, and 0.98 AUC. Beyond its technical achievements, the study demonstrates successful real-world application through teledermatology case studies and proposes frameworks for ethical deployment under India’s Ayushman Bharat Digital Health Mission (ABDM). The chapter highlights key contributions, including bias mitigation, federated learning for privacy, and integration with national health systems. Limitations and challenges are critically discussed alongside visionary directions such as multimodal imaging, transformer integration, IoT-based healthcare, and ethical AI certification. Concluding with philosophical reflections, it envisions a future of human–AI symbiosis—where intelligent, interpretable, and compassionate systems enhance equitable healthcare worldwide.
