ABSTRACT
Tunnel inspection technology using cameras has rapidly developed owing to research on computer vision technology for damage detection from images. Therefore, a method is required to objectively evaluate tunnel inspection systems developed with various performances. In this study, we proposed a method to evaluate the performance of tunnel images taken by a road tunnel inspection system equipped with a 4K line scan camera. Test charts and markers of International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 12233 were attached to the tunnel lining and photographed at speeds of 40 km/h and 80 km/h. The acquired images were analyzed for image quality, distortion, and deformation to evaluate the performance of the tunnel inspection system. In addition, distortion and deformation of the images were performed to determine the localization error of the damage from the images. This study can be employed as a measure to evaluate the objective performance of the tunnel inspection system.
