ABSTRACT

This study explores the integration of waqf (Islamic endowment) into the educational curriculum of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) to enhance ethical values and waqf management. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research examines how pesantren implement waqf education within their learning environment. As holistic Islamic institutions, pesantren have the potential to develop waqf systems that not only promote social and economic welfare but also shape students' (santri) character and ethical consciousness. Findings indicate that integrating waqf into the pesantren curriculum strengthens religious and social values, fosters philanthropic awareness, and supports financial independence for educational institutions. However, challenges such as limited understanding of waqf law and resource constraints hinder effective implementation. Addressing these barriers can enhance pesantren's role in fostering ethical leadership and economic sustainability. The study highlights the need for strategic policies and community engagement to optimise waqf's potential in building self-sufficient and socially responsible institutions.
