ABSTRACT

In today's era of technological advancement, the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a prominent topic of discussion. Islam encourages the use of human intellect to develop knowledge and contribute positively to life on earth. The presence of AI reflects humanity's ability to utilise intellect for technological progress. However, given the transparency of information enabled by AI, this study addresses the key question of how AI technology aligns with the ethical principles of the Qur’an and Hadith as sources of Islamic law. Using a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach, this research contributes to the understanding of AI ethics within Islamic contexts, enriching ethical discourse, incorporating diverse perspectives, and supporting the responsible adoption of AI across Islamic countries. This framework balances local values with universal relevance. The findings indicate that the Qur’an and Hadith provide clear guidance for the ethical use of technology, promoting progress within Islamic civilisation. References such as QS. Al-Jasiyah verse 13, Hadith narrated by Muslim, QS. Al-Nur verses 27–28, and QS. Al-Zumar verse 18 emphasise the importance of protecting privacy and avoiding misuse driven by personal desires. Instead, AI should be harnessed to advance knowledge, particularly in supporting Islamic dakwah (propagation).
