ABSTRACT

In coming years, the infrastructure industry is poised for significant growth. As a result, large structures will be constructed in many areas, where pile foundations will be widely used to support them. It is essential to verify load carrying capacity of piles to understand their behavior, which leads to pile design optimization. Recently, bi-directional static load test has gained a lot of popularity as a load testing method for pile foundations, due to its various benefits, such as eliminating need for reaction systems, rapid setup, less time consuming, cost effectiveness, greater convenience, and enhanced safety. In this paper a case study of bi-directional static load test conducted on bored cast-in-situ pile with diameter 1.6 m and length 41 m has been presented. A detail case study is presented here to generate an equivalent top-load curve for measuring load against allowable settlement using data obtained from bi-directional static load pile test.
