ABSTRACT
Objectives: to study the flexural strength of Poly-Ether-Ether-Ketone with and without hydroxyapatite 34.5% coating. Methods: 16 samples of PEEK plates were divided into 2 groups, namely the control group (K group) and the treatment Group (P group). HA did not coat the K group samples; the P group was coated by 34.5% HA. HA coating technique was done using a spin coating method, then dried at room temperature for 24 hours. A Universal Testing Machine performed flexural strength tests at a 1mm/minute speed. The data obtained was then analyzed by paired T-test. Results: The flexural strength of PEEK coated with 34.5% HA was 175 ± 6,245 MPa; conversely, non-coated PEEK showed a flexural strength value of 173 ± 17,243 MPa. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is no significant difference in flexural strength between the two groups. HA coating on PEEK material did not affect its flexural strength.
