ABSTRACT

Objective of this research is to analyse the setting time of β-TCP cement fabricated using β-TCP powder and sodium hydrogen sulphate (NaHSO4) solution with 0.1M; 0.2M; 0.3M and 0.4M concentration. Method: Laboratory experimental research by dissolving β-TCP powder made from a mixture of CaO and H3PO4 solution into NaHSO4 solution to produce β-TCP cement. The setting time test was carried out on β-TCP cement using the Vicat test. The results of the clarification time test are explained using statistical SPSS including the Shapiro-Wilk, Levene, Anova, and LSD. Results: The setting time of β-TCP cement (seconds) was found to be 0.1M (390±26.8), 0.2M (534±44.1), 0.3M (690±32.8) and 0.4M (882± 44.8). β-TCP powder dissolved after being mixed with an acid solution, causing dicalcium phosphate to precipitate and resulting in setting on each particle. Conclusion: The higher the concentration of the NaHSO4 solution, the slower the setting time of β-TCP cement.
