ABSTRACT

Objective: to determine the effectiveness of the administration of hUCMSCs on the number of osteoclasts in peri-implantitis. Methods: This research is true experimental with randomized post-test-only control group design. A total 42 Rattus norvegicus strain Wistar male were used and divided into six groups: the negative control group that was implanted in the femur and terminated after two weeks (K-14) and four weeks (K-28), the positive control group that was implanted in the femur then given LPS and terminated after two weeks (K+14), and four weeks (K+28), the peri-implantitis group which was treated with hUCMSCs. Statistical analysis was performed using One-way ANOVA. The number of osteoclasts was significantly decreased (p<0,05) from P-14 to P-28 using hUCMSCs different from K-14, K-28, and K+14, K+28. Conclusion: The use of hUCMSCs effectively reduces the number of osteoclasts in a peri-implantitis model.
