ABSTRACT

Based on the research findings, a number of practical recommendations were proposed to help reduce this threat at both governmental and organizational levels. The analysis of organizational capabilities identified the need to intervene at three levels: to prevent such events, to support employees during incidents, and to eliminate the effects of events that have already occurred. Activities at all three levels require proper planning and implementation of appropriate procedures and tools, but such a comprehensive approach can produce tangible results for all stakeholders: employers, employees, and patients. Such a strategy can actually improve the safety of healthcare workers and support the development of a safety culture, which is essential for creating a sustainable workplace. Ultimately, it will support all stakeholders and bring many tangible benefits.
