ABSTRACT

This article explores how digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming India's family law system. There are about 12 lakh pending family court cases across India as of 2024 and India's judiciary is facing huge backlog, especially in the cases of women's rights, child custody, maintenance, and domestic violence. The integration of AI-driven devices, like case triage, e-filing, indicative analytics and on the online dispute resolution, have shown early indications of enhancing access to legal system. Based on government reports, NJDG information, and latest digital justice stats, this research critically examines, both, the potential associated with Artificial intelligence in family legislation applications and its constraints. The results demonstrate quantifiable gains in judicial accessibility and efficiency while emphasizing the necessity of inclusive digital design and ethical oversight.
