ABSTRACT

The historical climate (Chapter 1, Figure 1.7) showed that rainfall patterns and geomorphic change were inversely correlated (Trimble and Lund, 1982). That is, the worst erosion and sedimentation of the early 20th century occurred during a period of generally lighter rainfall and smaller storms. Conversely, the profound decreases of erosion and sedimentation since the 1930s have occurred as rainfall and storms increased (Chapter 1, Figure 1.7).
