ABSTRACT
The west-east divide, which is also valid for the Carpathian Basin and even for the former Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, is well known throughout Europe. 1 In other words, these developmental differences have historical roots, and the differences gained contrast with the lowering of the Iron Curtain and the shaping of the different political-economic apparatuses on both sides.
