ABSTRACT

Atkins describes a series of 28 patients with what was termed ‘mammillary fistula’ (now known as mammary duct fistula). Their treatment was on the lines of that practised for fistula in ano, by laying open of the fistula, with excellent results. The procedure described involves placing a probe along the line of the fistula tract and opening down on to the probe. After using this technique, Atkins reported no recurrences.
