A new anti-oestrogenic agent in late breast cancer: An early appraisal of ICI 46,474

An introductionary trial of the anti-oestrogenic agent ICI 46,474 (now known as tamoxifen) in late or recurrent breast cancer was described. Forty-six patients have been treated, of whom 10 showed a good response. This is of the same order as that seen with oestrogens and androgens. The particular advantage of this drug was the low incidence of troublesome side effects.
