ABSTRACT

This important paper reports on the results of a survival update based on combined data from two studies that compare the efficacy and tolerability of anastrozole 1 mg or 10 mg once daily and megestrol acetate 40 mg four times daily in the treatment of postmenopausal women with metastatic breast cancer whose disease had progressed after treatment with tamoxifen. Two randomized parallel group multicentre trials were conducted involving a total of 764 women. An overview analysis was carried out, with a median follow-up duration of 31 months.
