Example 12.1 We wish to determine all functions y = y(x) having the rate of change 3 √ 2x + 1. Using the definition of the rate of change (see Chapter 4.4), this problem can be

formulated as follows. Determine all functions y = y(x) which satisfy the equation

y(x) = y ′(x) y(x)

= 3√2x + 1.
