ABSTRACT

As mentioned in the introduction to this part of the book, ICT has the potential to support effective teaching and learning throughout the curriculum. It is essential, however, to ensure that when ICT is to be used in support of teaching and learning in literacy, it is the literacy learning objective that remains the prime focus of the lesson. In this chapter we will look at how ICT can be used to support the teacher in preparing and delivering effective literacy lessons and on how ICT can be used to help pupils develop their English skills, knowledge and understanding more generally.
