ABSTRACT

In contrast to the format proposed by the National Council for Vocational Qualifications, the assessment process of the ASSET model has two basic ‘dimensions’ (see Chapter 2): the specific competences discussed in the previous chapter and the general role requirements embodied in ‘Core Assessment Criteria’ or ‘Core Professional Criteria’. This chapter explains why this second dimension is so important, how these general ‘Core’ criteria were derived, how they are used in the programme as a necessary part of the assessment process, and how they differ from other apparently similar work.
