ABSTRACT
In this final section, four contributors locate human cultural capacities and the microscale dynamics of cultural evolution in theoretical and comparative perspective. But whereas a conventional social science model might presume that language and encephalization have simply liberated human behaviour from the constraints of genetic determination, these authors point to some evolutionary constraints on human social cognition and cultural learning.
