ABSTRACT

In almost all of the more developed countries, recognition has been given to the relationship of the quality of housing to the health of the occupants. While in some cases it is difficult to show a conclusive relationship between the two because of the concomitance of other factors adversely affecting health, such as inadequate medical care, ignorance, poverty, etc., there is a considerable wealth of knowledge that identify the conditions of housing that should be provided in order that a dwelling may be considered to be healthful. In this context, healthful’ is defined as ‘serving to promote health of body or mind’.
