Chapter five The political economy of military expenditure in Iran during the war

As noted in chapter four, during the Revolution, the Shah's militarization of Iran, and in particular the massive arms imports from the US were much criticized by the revolutionary leaders. It was promised that, if successful in toppling the Shah's regime, the revolution would reduce Iran's military expenditure (Milex) and change the country's military orientations and arms imports.
