Chapter six Militarization of Iraq 1973–8: an economic analysis

In chapter four some aspects of the militarization of Iran under the late Shah, during the 1973–8 period, were noted. The Shah's drive for regional hegemony through increases in Milex and a massive arms imports programme did not fail to have an impact on Iraq, which had its own aspirations towards its own regional role.
