ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses network theory, social network theory, actor-network theory, and the activity theory in the context of organization and management. It also presents basic terms such as relations, actor, structure, socio-technical system, social capital, and organization as a starting point for the presentation of social, organizational, and dynamic network analysis. A unique look at the organization is to view it as a socio-technical system linked by a network of relations and interactions. Since the subject of this book is related to intangible resources—resource, knowledge, and intellectual capital-based views are presented, constituting the theoretical context of the organization’s management.
