ABSTRACT

This chapter summarizes the vision of consumption corridors as a pathway to social change, sustainable wellbeing, and a good life for all. It takes the dynamics of overconsumption as a starting point and highlights the power of stories and those who shape them. On that basis, the chapter reasserts the need for structural change, reminds the reader of the necessary processes to bring about such change, and delineates the existence of powerful visions as a relevant condition for getting there. With the idea of consumption corridors, the authors champion a strategy of structural change, one that understands people as members of communities that must flourish within limits if all individuals, now and in the future, will be able to live a good life. The chapter closes with an appeal to human creativity and power in engendering change.
