ABSTRACT

This folder examines how childlessness affects the relationship to objects, places, and, as the most important material site one inhabits, the body. Infertility, more specifically, tends to translate into a deep awareness of both the finiteness of life and one’s physical limitations. This folder examines the resulting mind–body relationships, including in the analysis, among the rest, a “pain diary,” poetry, an imagined conversation with a past self, and a letter to a deceased friend.
