ABSTRACT
This section provides a rationale for the stylistic choices that have been made in telling the researcher’s personal story in Part II of the book, particularly the experimentation with creative writing and poetry. It underlines a final reason for the silence that envelops the issue of infertility: the problem, sometimes, is not the absence of stories but the inability of the reader/listener/watcher to read/listen/watch them. This is because the story the involuntarily childless wish to convey covers experiences, emotions, and feelings that are so alien that it is not possible for “the others” to relate to them. It thus becomes essential, in this book, in order to support genuine understanding, to create a language of feeling-in-the-body that enables establishing an experiential bridge with the reader.
