ABSTRACT

This folder is an analysis of the process of rewriting one’s personal story, particularly from a version of it that focuses on pain, grief, and unworthiness, to an alternative narrative of healing, acceptance, wholeness, and appreciation for all that life has to offer. It particularly examines the narrative nature of the self and how one’s life’s-story is not only made by words—although vocabulary and the repertoire of expressions one uses are also important—but also by a constellation of places one inhabits, ideas, practices of everyday life, ways of moving the body, material possessions, clothes, and accessories. These reflections are presented in connection with the author’s experimentation with theatre and dancing.
