ABSTRACT
This chapter starts with a discussion of new metatheoretical thinking (Metatheory 2.0) about the relational nature of knowledge/knowing (epistemology) and reality (ontology). This is based on a synthesis of the Sub-Saharan African conception of Ukama and the Western synthesis of complexity theory (Egar Morin), critical realism (Roy Bhaskar) and integral theory (Ken Wilber). With this conceptual foundation, a new conception of the ‘collibratory governance’ of non-equilibrium economies is provided. This, in turn, is the basis for a consideration of post-capitalist alternatives, with special reference to the new literature on the commons as an authentic ‘third way’ beyond statism and market fundamentalism.
