ABSTRACT

This chapter provides insight on the role of the private sector in climate change adaptation. The chapter covers basic parameters and methodologies for how small businesses can evaluate climate change impacts that represent both risks and opportunities. The chapter also includes a discussion of the value of incorporating small businesses into ongoing community resilience planning exercises and plans. This chapter seeks to provide a pathway by which small and local businesses can engage local and state climate change adaptation planning activities, including those activities that operate to support organizational resilience and business continuity.
