ABSTRACT
Natural purposes are organized beings. This Kantian thesis is both epistemological, concerning the very conditions for a knowledge of the living, and metaphysical, since it confers a new scope to the metaphysical notion of finality, through which ancient metaphysics had easily associated natural philosophy and theology. This final chapter develops the metaphysics of purposiveness.
