ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the basic modern ego psychology psychanalytic terms that are relevant to the study and understanding of human sexual experience and its meaning. The chapter describes sensory emotional symbolic representations that Freud called thing presentations. It describes their information modality, their structural organization, the experience of them and their uses. Their role as transitional objects in personality development are also described. Physical sexual experience stimulates fantasy, which reveals the emotional meaning of the sexual experience. These sexual meaning experiences are organized in sensory emotional phenomena that Freud called thing presentations. This term is described and illustrated. Their use as transitional objects in personality development is described.
