ABSTRACT

The final chapter of this volume—which loosely adopts the form of an afterword—considers the role of repair in the critique of queer youth cultural productions. Drawing from Tillie Walden's queer webcomic, On A Sunbeam (2016–2017), it explores the role of history and reconstruction in reparative engagement with youth texts. Afterward, it examines Benjamin Alire Sáenz's Aristotle and Dante series (2012, 2021), with a particular emphasis on the first novel's omission of an AIDS narrative. It considers how intersectional thinking and history are crucial in conducting reparative interpretations of queer youth texts and reflects on the aspirations that drive the impulse to read queer YA reparatively.
