ABSTRACT
This chapter compares and contrasts the key findings of this research with existing theories on socio-economic transformation and gendered inequality. Critically engaging with the current theoretical trajectories, it also elaborates on the boundaries of feminist adaptations of complexity science as well as scrutinising the Althusserian base/superstructure approach. Drawing on Hegelian Marxist accounts of the historical materialist methodology and ontology, the chapter proposes an alternative theoretical framework which can go beyond the existing theoretical shortcomings.
