This chapter provides a conceptual overview of the book. It defines the difference between fictional and real-world bromances. Delving further into real-life celebrity bromances, the chapter covers a literature review on celebrity culture, persona and authenticity. Furthermore, it explores the commodification of celebrity and establishes the conceptual foundations for discussions of bromances as commodities, explored later in the book.
