ABSTRACT
This concluding chapter summarizes the contribution of this methodological book, which showcases, through a practical study, how data collected primarily via multi-sited political ethnography, supplemented by other materials, and verified by multiple forms of triangulation can be systematically analyzed through QCA. This book presents findings from a large research project that compared the political dynamics across all of the major iron ore mining areas and projects in Brazil and India between 2000 and 2015. The results of this QCA and further elaboration of the “behind-the-scenes” reasoning for the choices made during the QCA show how to study the political and economic outcomes in natural resource conflicts across different contexts and political systems. I call this approach to analyzing natural resource conflict through QCA the study of investment politics, which broadens the scope of social movement studies.
