ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the water security experiences of women and girls in household water activities in rural Ghana. Using a cross-sectional survey of three rural communities, the chapter identifies that gender inequalities are entrenched in domestic water collection and management, with women and girls severely affected more than men and boys. Efforts to address the gender inequalities in rural households water security experiences are requisite; otherwise, achieving gender equality in Ghana by 2030 will be a mirage.
