ABSTRACT

Chapter 1 introduces and describes why academic library internationalization is important. It explains that holistic internationalization involves both internal and external factors. The Literature section is based upon a systematic review of work directly about or related to matters of academic library internationalization, including international student accommodation and library usage, international faculty, and domestic student support. The Primary Research section explains the methodology employed for this study, including data collection and analysis. A conceptual framework based upon different aspects of internationalization as a process provides structure to this book, while ideas and themes identified during the literature review and primary research lend insight. The chapter ends with a section on Terms and Limits, and a brief preview of what is covered in succeeding chapters.
