ABSTRACT

This chapter concludes the book. It summarises key points and findings and broadens the discussion in terms of general insights that can be of value to readers across contexts. Finally, it serves as a kind of epilogue, written in the midst of ongoing protests and legal changes in the region. At this stage in what I paint here as a dynamic ideological battleground (locally as well as nationally and internationally) about the nature of Hong Kong identity and society, only a minimal kind of hindsight view is possible, as the story continues to unfold. This chapter gives preliminary insights about the most recent protest events as part of a tradition of Hong Kong youth-led protest and offers an early appraisal of the impact of recent political and educational shifts on this special region going forward.
