ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 consists of case studies of enterprises that appear to have been winners during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the diverse profile of the enterprises under analysis, they are allocated to the following groups: (1) direct “medical” beneficiaries, (2) replacing others, (3) opportunity catchers, (4) creative despite adversities. The chapter also presents a synthetic analysis of key success factors divided into seven categories: (1) strategy, (2) business model, (3) resources, (4) flexibility, (5) services/products, (6) customer relations, (7) environment. These factors have their source first of all in a strategically aligned, flexible and effective business model that had often been implemented in the period before the COVID-19 pandemic and turned out to be a valuable asset after its outbreak.
