ABSTRACT
This concluding chapter highlights the main research findings, distinguishing between the contribution to the literature on securitization, ontological security and to the literature on West African Security. This chapter takes a comprehensive look at securitization process outside the West, notably in Africa. It reflects on the development of African security and looks ahead in order to consider what the future may hold. Thus, this book fills a distinct gap in the scholarship on West African security and securitization. This book has highlighted several interesting and important developments not only for West African Security but also with regard to the progress of securitization more generally outside of the West.
