ABSTRACT

The testing of limits, the measuring of one’s own and others’ possibilities, is a normal part of adolescent behavior. In this chapter, the author describes two of the case studies of radicalized Austrian adolescents from Schmindiger's book. Summing up, the people must emphasize how important it is with violent adolescents to recognize the psychic dynamic behind this obviously powerful violence: helplessness, powerlessness and rage, as well as the inability to conceive or influence a situation through thought, results in the situation being "acted" through behavior, i.e., acted out. The author describes the first interview with Mark in detail, because it shows how quickly he established a relationship with him without using words. In conclusion, the author describes the political, social, psychological and therapeutic measures that have considerably reduced suicide rates. In most European cities, there are crisis intervention centers for anyone undergoing a psychic crisis. Sometimes it is necessary to accompany her to a counseling center.
